Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that breaks conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations resonate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret group.
The adventure centers on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Features
Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with several objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Content
This update also introduces the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
